5 steps to a perfect bike date

March 28, 2011

Bike with someone you love

Step 1: Grab someone you love and ask them on a date. This is not limited to romantic interests, go ahead and ask your best friend, your sister, your aunt, or anyone you simply enjoy spending time with.

Step 2: Make sure you each have a bike. Borrow a bike if you must. Rent one if you’re away from home and exploring a new city.

Step 3: Pack a lunch or picnic. These make for the best bike dates. Help your partner carry the load (but don’t necessarily volunteer to carry it yourself).

Step 4: Choose a route. Be it on a remote trail, through your favorite city neighborhoods, along bike paths in a city, or simply the way to your favorite park, beer garden, or movie theater. Ride along side each other when safe, and share stories of your day or weekend. Stop and take pictures along the way, even if it’s just of grazing cows.

Step 5: Arrive at your destination. Bonus points if your destination includes a beer garden or outdoor seating where you can chat, people watch, and enjoy a refreshing drink. No beer gardens where you live? A park will do. Throw down a blanket, pull out your packed picnic goodies, and relax.

Wow, that is one BIG glass of beer! I second the suggestion to head for a lovely beer garden as your destination because my husband and I both love people watching so that’s where we usually aim for.

But I have to say that if I drank a glass of beer that big I’d need to stop behind every 5th tree on the way home to offload some of that fluid…my bladder’s the size of a peanut!

Ha! Jane, that is a tall mug of beer indeed. That was in Munich and it’s called a “Mass”. I have to admit that it’s the same Mass in both pictures, we shared it and T. drank the majority of it :)

I remember it wasn’t uncommon on just a normal day in Lithuania for people in restaurants to have a liter of beer, it was cheaper than bottled water in a lot of places :)

Looking forward to weather here that would actually allow us to sit outside in a beer garden, park or restaurant seating without getting soaked :) once that happens, rest assured, we’ll make it happen :)

Where were the pics in #3 and #4 taken? They look very non-Midwest. But beautiful.

    • March 28, 2011 19:35

You’re right, they’re not in the Midwest! Both of those were taken in Colorado. We were in Breckenridge and rented bikes to explore the nearby trails on day. It was beautiful!

The cow pic was definitely in the Midwest :)

The rest are from Munich, Germany.

And you didn’t even need to mention tandems!
Must admit though it was a surprise when someone other than Mrs RevolveMCR was on the back of the tandem and I discovered that she hadn’t actually been pedalling. Ever.
