kara et al: a family bike date in Utah
This week’s bike date comes from the beautiful backdrop of Salt Lake Valley, Utah. Kara, who is an avid cyclist and übertalented crafter – just check her site Knitting Lemonade for proof! – contributed these wonderful photos of her and her family on a group ride. As I’ve said before, Bike Dates don’t just come in one form and aren’t just about your traditional boy/girl couple – they’re about celebrating outings by bike with your loved one, your family, your best friends, and anyone else you enjoy spending time with. It’s all about getting out there and breathing fresh air while moving your legs. Bonus points if you can round up a stunning backdrop like this one or a cute little companion like Maggie…
Greetings from Utah! A couple of weeks ago, I went on a family bike date with my sister, Bri, brother-in-law, Adam, and wee Maggie. I went down to their neck of the woods to ride the Lehi section of the Jordan River Parkway. The Jordan River Parkway is basically a 40-mile urban park that runs along the Jordan River–so there are many places you can hop on and off throughout the whole Salt Lake Valley.
It took us a little while to get going, especially when coordinating with bike racks and baby trailers. But eventually we got it all down pat and were able to hit the parkway. (Maggie was very helpful getting everything ready.)
This was Maggie’s first ride, and she wasn’t too sure about it all.
But a bottle soon fixed that.
Since I mostly ride solo, biking with family was such a nice change. Here are some snaps taken from the ride.
I think the MVPs of the ride were Bri, for toting Maggie in the baby trailer, and Maggie for just being so darn cute.
Here’s to many more family bike dates to come!
Thanks, Kara! If you want to follow more of Kara’s cycling adventures, hop on over to Knitting Lemonade and get acquainted with her and her three gorgeous bikes.
